B2 First

B2 First, previously known as the First Certificate in English (FCE), is one of Cambridge English's most sought-after certificates, recognised by hundreds of companies and institutions worldwide. Achieving the B2 First certificate demonstrates that you have the language skills needed to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or to study on courses taught in English.

Exam format

B2 First is a test that covers all language skill areas.

The exam consists of 4 tests. The Speaking test is conducted with two candidates and two examiners, to create more realistic English conversation situations.

Experiences and Durations
  • Reading and Use of English 1 hour and 15 minutes
  • Writing 1 hour and 20 minutes
  • Listening (approximately 40 minutes)
  • Speaking (14 minutes per pair of candidates)
  • Test time: Around 3 hours and 35 minutes

The computerised trial test does not provide an overall score. You can check your answers during the test using the provided solutions. However, once the test is completed, it will no longer be possible to check your answers.
