Starter Kit

This course aims to provide qualified teachers with the basic tools needed to teach English to children aged 6 to 11. It is designed for those who wish to expand or consolidate their skills in teaching English in primary schools. Please note that the course will take place entirely online, in a 100% live format. Participants and tutors will be connected as a group in real time for the entire duration of the course.

Purpose and Structure

One-week practical course which provides the fundamental basis for teaching Young Learners.

Fundamentals covered during the course:

  • Planning Return to achieving objectives

  • Activities to stimulate and support language development

  • Techniques of Classroom management

  • Online teaching

The seminars and training sessions will be conducted entirely online, through interactive distance learning. During the course, all participants will have the opportunity to put new skills into practice by teaching their fellow course attendees online. This experience will allow them to receive feedback from tutors. No written assignments or coursework are expected.

To assess their learning, participants will keep a student journal. This journal, along with practical lesson plans and feedback received, will constitute a portfolio rich in ideas, suggestions, and reflections. This tool will be invaluable for progress in teaching school-aged children.

YL Starter Kit

  • Next online course: 11-15 September 2023
  • Frequency, Monday to Friday
  • Online live streaming lesson from 3pm-4:30pm and 4:45pm-6:15pm.
  • Total hours: 12 hours of lessons + Teaching Practice + tutorials
    • Seminars and input will take place entirely online with interactive remote lessons
    • All interns will have the opportunity to teach fellow students online, thereby putting their new skills into practice and receiving feedback from tutors.
    • No written assignments or essays are foreseen.
  • Requirements
    • English C1 level
    • CELTA or equivalent
    • Some previous teaching experience. Note that no particular experience teaching children is required; this course is designed for beginners!
