Introduction to the Python Programming Language Seminar at the Oxford International House Lower Secondary School in Lecce

On 26 May 2024, at Oxford International House Middle School in Lecce, a Introductory seminar on the Python programming language. The event, part of the “IT… and more“, was conducted by Prof. Giorgio De Nunzio of the University of Salento and curated by Prof. Salvatore Papa, teacher of mathematics and technology at the school.
The pupils from the first and second years of middle school participated actively in the seminar, having the opportunity to interact directly with Professor De Nunzio.
During the meeting, the students experienced the sWriting simple commands in Python, discovering how lines of code can make a machine perform specific tasks.
A particularly engaging part of the seminar was about Development of a simple video game. The students learned the importance of command libraries and how to use them to modify the graphical aspects of the game. This practical experience allowed the pupils to better understand the fundamental concepts of programming in a fun and interactive context.
The initiative was highly appreciated by both students and teachers, sparking great curiosity about the topics covered and stimulating the young people's interest in the world of computing. This seminar represented a significant first step towards the acquisition of Essential digital skills for the future.
